The idea for Makethisway started as an Instagram page to document what I am making, have made over the years. If I look back at the photos on my hard hard drive over the last 20 odd years I see how much I have forgotten that I made. The product that made think about documenting everything was when I was asked by a friend in school if I knew a way of getting her nans handwriting on to a box her mum as a Christmas present. I really enjoyed the challenge of doing this and wanted to remember the challenge, hence my Makethisway Instagram page was born.
My workshop
Being in the UK we don’t have the luxury of having some of the massive workshop you see in other countries. The first thing we did when we moved into the house was to build the workshop, this is very much my happy place. It is somewhere I go to think, have some quiet time and simply enjoy my time out here. I am lucky to have been able to develop it over the last 13 years into a place where I can carry out a wide range of different jobs and task. It is not always the warmest or the most tidy, but it is my space to create and explore my imagination.
